Prenatal, Delivery, and Postnatal Care

Gem Family Medicine is dedicated to providing quality and convenient prenatal, delivery, postnatal, and newborn care. Our physicians are certified to deliver babies and perform c-sections, and have delivery privileges at St. Luke’s Medical Centers and Weiser Memorial Hospital.  Between them, Dr. Barrus and Dr. Mumford have delivered over 1,000 Idaho babies, so you are sure to be in good hands!

In addition to having experienced and professional doctors, expectant mothers also have the convenience of doing all their prenatal care at our clinic in Emmett. These priority prenatal appointments mean less time in traffic and waiting rooms, and more time planning for your baby’s healthy arrival.

At Gem Family Medicine, we believe “prevention is the best medicine,” and are committed to helping you live a healthy and full life. Wellness exams are an essential part of this, and are important for monitoring your health trends and detecting early signs of possible healthcare concerns.  

Sometimes known as check-ups, wellness exams, or annual physicals, these visits are different from acute care appointments. Rather than focused on addressing specific healthcare concerns you may have, wellness exams are periodic visits intended to help your healthcare provider track your overall health and screen from potential problems. Immunizations

Make the best decisions for your family!

At Gem Family Medicine, we offer childhood and adult immunizations. We recognize the vital role vaccinations play in safeguarding the health of your family. Getting your child vaccinated not only helps protect your child, it also helps protect others in our community—like your friend who cannot get certain vaccines, or a neighbor’s new baby who is too young to be fully vaccinated. When everyone who can get vaccinated does get vaccinated, it helps to prevent the spread of disease within a community.
While we encourage childhood immunizations, we also recognize and respect a parent’s right to make choices regarding your child’s healthcare. Our hope is to provide information and answer questions to help you make a good decision for you and your child. We strive to partner with you in your child’s care, without judgment and with sound reasoning.  Please approach any of our providers or clinical staff with questions you may have regarding immunizations. They want to help you make an informed and appropriate decision for your child. We can provide a schedule of recommended immunizations based upon age. In a partnership with Idaho, we offer all recommended childhood immunizations in a safe, friendly environment.
